I want to take this time to introduce myself and to kick off this section of the blog. My name is Sara Eisenberg and I am the 2009 - 2010 PTA President. My husband, TJ, and I currently have three boys enrolled at Hoover, and will have a daughter coming through in a few years. We started off at Mark Twain Elementary, moved to the Hoover district after two years, and have been here for four years now.
As we all get caught up (and tied up!) in our everyday lives, it is hard to stay informed of everything. I am going to attempt to use this space as a place to highlight/discuss things that maybe aren't always in the limelight, but are still a crucial part of Hoover and the PTA. I don't intend to make them long, just quick notes and thoughts to pass along.
I was thrilled at the turnout for our first PTA meeting of this year! We had folks sitting down the rows between the bookshelves!! There were a lot of questions that were asked, and I believe that most of them were answered. With our new classmates and parents, there are many new and different ideas that were mentioned at the meeting, and I hope to address them more at the next meeting.
One of these is assistance with administrative functions at the school. Another was having folks donate time to make aesthetic improvements to Hoover. Another idea that had been discussed over the summer was the investigation of grants and what we could apply for. If anyone has experience with this or would like to head a group, please let me know.
Finally.....I want to commend the entire Hoover staff, teachers, administrative, custodial, for all their efforts during the last two months. They have done a tremendous job of adjusting and accommodating, but always maintained the tenants of the Hoover Star!!! BRAVO!!!!
Thanks again and I look forward to seeing all of you again at the next PTA meeting!
