Hoover Book Fair, Going On Now!

It's Book Fair time again! This fall's book fair will be held in the Hoover Media Center. Hours will be daily from 11 - 12:30 and for one hour after school. Wednesday the 17th we will stay open until 5:30. Please come and support your child, your teacher(s), and the Media Center. All proceeds go to the library to purchase materials for our children.

If you are out of town or can't make our fair, you can still support Hoover by shopping the fair online:

There is a MUCH larger variety online, and all orders are shipped to Hoover free of charge. You can create a reading wish list for your child and pass the website on to Grandma & Grandpa. :) The dates for the online fair are Sept. 10th-30th.

Celebrating 60 Years of Hoover Elementary

In the coming months there will be a number of opportunities to celebrate Hoover's rich history as well as our bright future!

March in a parade! On Wednesday, October 1 Hoover will be marching in the annual City High homecoming parade. We will be building a float, and we hope to have as many families as possible come march with us.  Have family members who went to Hoover?  Know of alumni or neighbors who love Hoover as much as we do? Invite them to walk with us in the parade! More details to come. If you have any questions, please contact Erin Kaufman at Erin.kaufman.13@gmail.com

Welcome old friends back to Hoover! On Sunday, October 5 Hoover will be hosting a 60th reunion. We need help to spread the word to the community! Do you have neighbors, friends, or co-workers who attended Hoover "back in the day" or who have their own grown up Hoover Stars? Are you a Hoover parent who attended Hoover yourself? Do you facebook or twitter? Please help us spread the word to your former classmates about the October 5th Hoover Elementary 60th reunion. We'll be mingling on the blacktop from 1-4 with a program at 3:00. Raindate of the 12th.  Contact: Kristal.Gibson@gmail.com.

Buy a t-shirt! Have you seen the Hoover 60th anniversary shirts? Hoover teachers and staff wore them proudly to a district event to kick-off the school year and showed great Hoover pride! All students will be given a free 60th shirt in mid-September to wear for our whole school photo and other events through the year. Many thanks to our wonderful sponsors who made these gifts possible: Carousel Nissan, HJR Financial Group, and Steindler Orthopedic Clinic. Shirts for the rest of the family, alums, or friends of Hoover are also available for $10. Contact: Kristal.Gibson@gmail.com.

Come to a PTA meeting! Want to learn more about all the great things that are happening at Hoover? Please join the Hoover PTA for its first meeting, Thursday, September 11 at 7 p.m., following curriculum night.

What a sweet way to support Hoover!

A special Hoover thanks to Cate's Frozen Yogurt for making this possible!

Volunteers Needed to Help with Hoover Football Parking

Hoover PTA will again be parking cars for all City High home football games.  City High has home games scheduled for August 29September 12October 3, and October 24. This is a great fundraiser for the PTA and is free for us to do.  If you would like to volunteer to help park cars or have questions, please contact Carrie Karr at Csueppel32@gmail.com.

You can also sign up online here.

Again, this is an easy way to help raise money for our teachers and our school.  City High has a home game this week (August 29), so we're especially hoping that people can sign up to fill those spots.  Thanks!

District Parents Organization (DPO) Meeting at Hoover!

Hoover will be hosting the first DPO meeting of the year on Wednesday, September 10 (11:30-1:00) in the Media Center.

We need your help! Pancheros is providing lunch, but we need bottled water and cookies. If you can provide either, please sign up here Also, we need a few volunteers to help provide Hoover hospitality during the event. If you are interested, please contact Melanie Sigafoose.

The DPO is a group of representatives from all schools in the district that meets monthly to discuss various topics. If you're curious about what the DPO is all about, come to the meeting at Hoover and find out!
