The City of Iowa City’s Poetry in Public deadline is approaching fast!
Poetry in Public celebrates Iowa City’s rich literary tradition by exhibiting poems by local writers of all ages.
Poems are displayed on city buses, in downtown kiosks, and in public buildings from April (National Poetry Month) through the Fall. Download a submission form at: http://www.icgov.org/pip. Electronic submissions are preferred.
Please note that all submissions are due by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 10, 2012.
General criteria for submissions:
You must be a resident of Johnson County
Only one poem per author (can be either a new or existing work)
The poem may be no more than 7 lines (not including the title).
Poems are published as is. Please use proper spelling, grammar and punctuation before submitting.
Please do not submit poems with graphic or unusual formatting. Standard indentation, spacing, etc. will be reproduced as close as possible to the original.
For Students under 18 only: Permission forms must be completed by a parent or guardian if your poem is selected for publication. Please include a home address so forms can be mailed directly.
