Calling on All Dads (and uncles, grandpas, etc.)
At the PTA meeting last week, Hoover parents learned about a successful program at Lucas Elementary that gets men involved with activities at school. Jim Meehan is starting to collect names of Hoover guys interested in starting up a similar type of group at Hoover. The group, called DEED- (Dads Engaged in Engineering Dreams) fosters male involvement in the school community.
Here are some possibilities to consider… and more ideas are wanted and encouraged!
- Assist with our Intermediate Field Day
- Help with a Career Day
- City High School football game night
- Community clean-up day
- Field trips to Lake McBride and area cultural events
- Hospital visits
- Service-learning projects
- Creation of special clubs for chess, Legos, geography and math
